Overview of the speaking section of PTE

The speaking section of the Pearson Test of English (PTE) exam consists of five different types of questions that test your speaking skills:

  1. Personal Introduction: This task requires you to introduce yourself by giving your full name and answering a few questions about yourself.
  2. Read aloud: This task requires you to read aloud a given text as it is written. You will have 40 seconds to prepare and 40 seconds to read.
  3. Repeat Sentence: This task requires you to listen to a sentence and then repeat it exactly as you hear it.
  4. Describe Image: This task requires you to describe an image that is shown on the screen, including the main features and details.
  5. Retell Lecture: This task requires you to listen to a lecture and then retell the main points in your own words.
  6. Answer Short Question: This task requires you to answer a short question that is related to the content of the lecture or image.

To perform well in the speaking section of the PTE exam, it’s important to practice speaking regularly and to familiarize yourself with the format and types of questions on the test. Additionally, it’s important to work on improving your pronunciation, fluency, and vocabulary to ensure that you can communicate effectively in English.
