Digital Tools to Enhance or Learn English

The English language is a difficult yet beautiful topic. That’s why it’s important to have the right tools in order to learn and improve your English skills. There are many different ways you can go about learning English, but here are my favorite digital resources for you!

Learn English with Speeachace.com

The first tool that I use is a speechace. If you have problems with various pronunciations, then this is the place to go. For example, take the word “Saturday”. When I pronounce it aloud, an on-screen meter tells me how well I’ve done. And if you receive a higher percentage, then that means your pronunciation was better. So you can keep working on different sounds and words by going through this website.

Learn English with Google Dictionary

The other tool I regularly use is Google Dictionary. To install Google Dictionary, first, go to the Web store and search for “Google Dictionary”. Then scroll down until you find it. If this is your first time installing the extension, you will be asked to install it in your browser. Now go to any article that you want to read. When you come across a word that you don’t understand, simply double-click on the word and it will show the definition of the word.

Learn English with Vocabulary.com

The third web tool that I use is vocabulary.com. Unlike other vocabulary learning methods, on this site, you are asked to pick a word in the context of a sentence instead of being given the answer outright. And on this site you can see definitions of the word, so you get to not only practice its meaning but also spell it. You will rank up the scoreboard with each new word you learn and practice. You can check your position on the leaderboard to see how high you have come!

Learn English with ELSA

The fourth tool that I use is a mobile application called ELSA. This English language speaking assistant has significantly helped me improve my pronunciation skills. This application tells me what I struggle with, how I pronounce words and also gives me scores. It reminds me to practice every day. For those preparing for the IELTS test, there are various topics and situations to help you improve your speaking skills.

I am still learning English, even though I have the experience of more than 15 years of teaching English. As such, there are many topics with which I’m not familiar. The best way to become adept in any language is through practice and development.

In order to master any skill, you need to take initiative and practice on a regular basis. This means making sure that the activities you are doing are interesting enough, enjoyable, and not anything that would bore or frustrate you. I’ve been using these digital tools to help me learn and improve my English skills. If you want me to share any other tools please let me know in the comments, I would be happy to do that.
