Avoid negative marking in “Multiple Choice Questions”

  1. For listening multiple-choice questions, the main part of the question tells you what to listen for.
  2. In the 5 seconds before the recording begins, quickly read the question and answer options to make sure you understand the topic. If you think you are a slow reader or the options are too long to read, then it is better to focus on the question only.
  3. Being aware of the focus of the question will help guide your listening. For example, it will tell you whether you are listening to the main idea: Or looking for some supporting information or details Or listening for an inference drawn by the speaker Or listening for the speaker’s purpose.
